RHA 2 Sherman Oaks

RHA 2 is part of the RHA® Collection of dermal fillers. The RHA Collection is an award-winning set of designer fillers.  Developed for natural-looking results, RHA 2 was specifically formulated to act like the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in your own skin. Our faces are dynamic — meaning we make hundreds of movements such as frowning, smiling, laughing, eating, etc.

Repetitive movements create facial lines called dynamic wrinkles and folds. Because these areas are usually in motion, treating facial lines can be challenging. Oftentimes fillers can make the treated areas look stiff and unnatural when the face is moving. The RHA® Collection was developed to work with movement to look natural and refreshed. Dynamic facial movements include:

  • Frowning
  • Smiling
  • Talking
  • Laughing
  • Squinting
  • Chewing

What is RHA 2?

RHA 2 belongs to the RHA family of fillers (slightly firmer/thicker than Redensity AKA RHA 1, but softer/thinner than RHA 3 and RHA 4). The difference with this collection of fillers is unique. It is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your dynamic facial movements for a look that’s beautiful at rest and natural in motion.

RHA 2 Benefits

RHA 2 was specifically developed to mimic our bodies’ own hyaluronic acid, it is softer and more natural in appearance than many other fillers. It’s known as a “flexible” filler and was specifically formulated for moderate facial folds.

It’s a perfect filler for treating accordion cheek lines, filling underneath the eyes, moderate lip lines and lip augmentation.

What Results to Expect:

  • Treated moderate facial folds;
  • Fills the under eye area;
  • Lip augmentation;
  • Lip lines;
  • A flexible gel filler that closely resembles the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in our bodies for a more natural result whether you face is resting or moving;

How the Procedure Works

RHA 2 is a non-surgical procedure performed at our cosmetic center. It is performed by our doctor who’s specialized in medical aesthetics or one of our expert RN injectors.

Before & Preparation

Discuss your goals with your injector so she understands your priorities and preferences. During your consultation, you injector will also:

  • Review your medical history with you;
  • Discuss whether you are a good candidate for RHA 2;
  • Tell you what to expect during and after your procedure;

Your provider will then give you instructions to follow prior to your treatment:

  • Tell your provider if you are taking any medications or supplements that may cause increased bleeding. These include anti-inflammatory pain medications such as aspirin, Motrin, Excedrin, and ibuprofen, fish oils, blood thinning medications and alcohol;
  • If you have any plans to get vaccinated or receive any type of procedures that involve puncturing of the skin, please let your injector know as it’s not ideal to have these done within a two-week window of your RHA 2 treatment;
  • Let your injector know if you are pregnant or nursing.  Also if you have a history of severe reactions or cold sores. The safety of RHA 2 has not been studied in pregnant people or those with a history of severe allergic reactions. If you have had a history of cold sores, our office can provide you with anti-viral medication to prevent a breakout from needle irritation. You must be over the age of 18 to be eligible for RHA 2 since the FDA didn’t study this treatment in people under 18;
  • Don’t engage in strenuous activity on the day of your treatment or the next day. Bruising and swelling can worsen when your blood flow increases;
  • Stay hydrated! Drinking a lot of water helps keep your skin moisturized which aids in speedier recovery times;
  • Limit your exposure to the sun for 48 hours;
  • Don’t smoke 48 hours prior to the procedure as it will reduce the risk of bruising and swelling;

  • The treatment area will be cleaned with alcohol or a different antiseptic;
  • Your injector may use a pen to mark the injection site if needed; the ink will wipe off;
  • RHA 2 will then be injected into the treatment area using a very fine needle or cannula;
  • RHA 2 has lidocaine in its formulation to minimize any discomfort;
  • Your provider may massage the area to ensure tissue integration or for molding the product into the correct shape and placement;

Aftercare & Recovery

There is always potential bruising and swelling associated with any filler procedure but you can resume most of your normal activities after treatment. Follow your provider’s post-care instructions for the best outcome.

RHA 2 FAQs

What is RHA filler?

RHA is a unique filler that was specifically developed for dynamic movement in the face (laughing, talking, chewing, etc.). It mimics the hyaluronic acid in your body so that it moves with your face to look beautiful and natural whether you’re moving or at rest.

    How long does RHA 2 filler last?

    The span for hyaluronic acid fillers depends on where it’s injected, the amount of movement in that area, amount of regular exercise, as well as your own metabolism.  RHA fillers have long longevity, usually lasting between 9-15 months.

        What is the difference between RHA Redensity, 2, 3 and 4?

        They are all a part of the RHA family, from thinnest (Redensity AKA RHA1) to most firm (RHA 4).  Depending on the desired result, providers can choose the correct firmness for each area of the face, to achieve either subtle thin wrinkle treatment or firm, jawline contour.  For example, Redensity is perfect for super thin wrinkles, while RHA 3 is great for lip enhancement and volumization, and RHA 4 for cheeks and jawline definition.

            What are the side effects of RHA fillers?

              RHA fillers are generally safe with a skilled injector. However, as with any injection there is a temporary risk of bruising and swelling at the injection site. More rare complications include occlusion of vessels or allergic reactions. Avoiding alcohol, fish oil, aspirin and other blood thinners in the days before your treatment will help reduce the risk of bruising.

                How painful is receiving RHA fillers?

                    Fillers themselves are typically painless due to the numbing agent lidocaine pre-mixed within its gel.  However, the pokes may be slightly uncomfortable for some people.

                      How long will it take to heal?

                          Results are seen immediately after treatment, however, if you have bruising or swelling it may take up to two weeks to subside.

                            What is the difference between RHA 3 and RHA 4?

                                RHA 3 is designed for moderate to severe wrinkles and folds and provides a balance of flexibility and strength, making it suitable for dynamic areas like the nasolabial folds and lips. RHA 4, on the other hand, is firmer and intended for deeper injection sites to correct severe facial wrinkles and volume loss in areas like the cheeks, chin, and jawline. RHA 4 can also be used by our advaced injectors as a means to firm lax skin.
