Wrinkle Relaxers Sherman Oaks

Nowadays, the most commonly used cosmetic tools for rejuvenation and enhancement are muscle-relaxing proteins, also called neuromodulators. While Botox was the first FDA-approved brand, Daxxify, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin, 3 other similar products from different companies soon joined the market. They each approximate 3-4 months of longevity when used in the recommended dosage, except for Daxxify which tested its results based on double dosage and hence demonstrated longer longevity. Based on our clinical experience, however, we have found that each patient can respond differently with varying longevity to the different brands. Therefore, a more personalized approach is always recommended.

At Cosmetic Injectables Center, we advocate for and focus on approaching each patient in a customized manner. Our trained practitioners are committed to understanding your specific needs and desires to provide personalized treatment plans resulting in natural-looking results.  We prioritize client satisfaction and guarantee that every client receives the highest level of care. At Cosmetic Injectables Center, Dr. Soleiman and her team are here to help you achieve your cosmetic goals using the following wrinkle relaxers:

Which areas can be treated with Botox?

Botox Cosmetic and Dysport are FDA approved purified proteins that are used to relax the facial muscles that cause frown lines. They can also be used off-label to lift brows, and decrease forehead lines, next to the eyes (crow’s feet), and on the nose (bunny lines). Other more advanced techniques can also be performed to decrease creases on lips, upturn corners of lips, decrease size of large masseters, and lift jowls to give the appearance of a mini face lift.

  • Frown lines (the vertical lines between the brows)
  • Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), and
  • Forehead lines (horizontal lines in the forehead.)

What’s the difference between Botox and Fillers?

Botox and other neuromodulators relax muscles. As such, the weakened muscles no longer contract and don’t crinkle the skin into wrinkles. Fillers on the other hand “fill” the area under the skin. By volumizing a deflated or underdeveloped area, we can contour the face to decrease the shadows that make us look tired, lift the skin back up to its original position, and rejuvenate a droopy or flat structure.

Botox

Botox (onabotulinumtoxin A) is a wrinkle relaxer approved by the FDA for medical use in 1989. Since then, this neuromodulator has been used in frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.

The neuromodulator is manufactured by Allergan, the company that makes Juvederm, Voluma, Vollure, and Latisse. Botox injections employ a toxin to temporarily inhibit a muscle from moving. These injections are frequently used to reduce wrinkles on the face. They are also used to treat neck spasms, sweating, an overactive bladder, weak eyes, and other conditions. Botox injections may also help prevent migraines.

Dysport

Compared to Botox, Dysport (abobotulinumtoxin A) was approved by the FDA later, in 2009. It comes in 300-unit vials and needs to be refrigerated before and after use.

This wrinkle relaxer was manufactured by Galderma- the same company that makes Restylane, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, and Sculptra. Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking agent indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with procerus and corrugator muscle activity in adult patients.

Jeuveau

Jeuveau is a relatively new cosmetic injectable that launched in 2019 as a rival to Botox. The active component in Jeuveau is botulinum toxin type A neurotoxin, which inhibits nerve impulses to muscles, causing them to relax and smoothing wrinkles. Jeuveau is typically used to alleviate frown lines between the brows, sometimes called glabellar lines.

Nowadays, people call Jeuveau as ‘New Botox’. Jeuveau is a non-surgical, gentle treatment that is both effective and risk-free for nearly all patients. In clinical studies, the majority of individuals experienced just minor side effects. Click here to learn more about this wrinkle relaxer.

Xeomin

Xeomin, also called incobotulinumtoxinA, is a wrinkle relaxer used to treat the wrinkles between the eyebrows and other areas of the face off-label. This way, other lines and wrinkles will be relaxed, resulting in chin dimpling reduction, and a more youthful appearance.

If Jeuveau was called ‘New Botox’, Xeomin is called ‘the Naked Botox’ due to the purity of the product itself. Xeomin only contains one active ingredient as previously mentioned. However, this doesn’t make the relaxer worse than Botox.  It has shown pretty good results in reducing lip wrinkles, and neckbands (see a more comprehensive list here).

Daxxify

One of the latest neuromodulators on the market that offers patients comfortable and long-lasting solutions to their cosmetic concerns is Daxxify®. The active ingredient in this wrinkle relaxer is daxibotulinumtoxinA. Compared to the other relaxers, Daxxify works to reverse visible signs of aging and create a younger, more relaxed facial expression.

What makes Daxxify unique are the consistent results, little to no downtime, and infrequent upkeep. It’s an excellent option for those who aim to look younger while avoiding the costs and risks associated with cosmetic surgeries.
