Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Sherman Oaks
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a Hyaluronic acid-based filler that uses Hylacross technology to deliver a smooth consistency gel into the treatment area.
It’s thinner and more water-absorbing in consistency when compared to Juvederm Voluma, but thicker than Juvederm Ultra. This makes it one of the most water-loving yet firm fillers in the market. In our experience, its results are somewhat comparable to Restylane Lyft (previously known as Perlane.)
What is Juvederm Ultra Plus XC?
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a Hyaluronic acid-based filler that received its FDA approval for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC (Extra Comfort) is the same gel as Juvederm Ultra Plus XC but premixed with lidocaine (numbing solution).
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Benefits
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is the ultimate choice for patients with deeper facial wrinkles and significant volume loss. If you have previously used Juvederm XC but are no longer seeing the same results, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is the replacement you may need.
What Results to Expect:
- Adding Volume to deep nasolabial folds, temples, and lower cheeks: Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a crystal-clear gel made of hyaluronic acid-based filler that provides a significant boost in volume;
- A Denser Formula: The filler has a denser composition than Juvederm Ultra XC. This density adds to its unique performance. This makes the filler appropriate for correcting moderate to severe volume loss in a variety of face areas;
- Softening of Lines and Wrinkles: When the healthcare practitioner injects the filler, it efficiently fills in deep wrinkles, smoothing the skin’s surface, and promotes a more youthful appearance;
- FDA-Approved Filler: Juvederm Ultra Plus XC has received its FDA Approval in June 2006 and in January 2010 was approved with the ingredient- Lidocaine; it has definitely withstood the test of time;
- Instantly Reversible: By injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase, the molecules inside Juvederm fillers are dissolved. This makes this filler completely and instantly reversible;
How Long Will Results Last?
The results from Juvederm Ultra Plus XC last from 9- 12 months on average. Following this, repeated injections can be delivered to maintain the desired outcome.
Is Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Reversible?
Most popular fillers like Juvederm Ultra Plus XC are made of hyaluronic acids. These molecules are completely and instantly reversible by injecting a reversal agent called hyaluronidase (name brands Hylenex and Vitrase).
Hyaluronic acid filler molecules are held together by cross-linking. Some fillers have more cross-linking which makes them last longer. and others have fewer, which makes them dissolve faster. Regardless of the amount of crosslinking, hyaluronidase can be injected to break them down instantly for the body to discard them.
Some fillers only need one session of reversal agent, while other products may need two or three sessions to dissolve completely. If you have experienced migration of your fillers or are unhappy with your filler results and are looking for help, you are in the right place.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC FAQs
What can Juvederm Ultra Plus XC be used for?
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is used for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (nasolabial folds) but can be used off label in temples, around the chin area, and in the lower cheeks. The filler temporarily adds volume to the skin, giving the appearance of a smoother surface.
What is Ultra Plus Filler?
Ultra Plus is a filler from the Juvederm family. Its full name is Juvederm Ultra Plus XC. It lasts about 9-12 months while its sister product, Juvederm Ultra XC is a tad bit thinner and lasts about 6-9 months. Ultra Plus is great for deeper nasolabial folds (smile lines), while Ultra Filler is best for the treatment of lip volume and shape.
Is Juvederm Ultra Plus good for lips?
Due to its thicker consistency, Juvederm Ultra Plus has to be placed deep into the lips to avoid lump formation, which increases its risk of migration. Juvederm Ultra XC however is thinner and can be placed more superficially which helps the filler stay put, even against the repetitive movements of the lips.
Does Juvederm Ultra Plus Migrate?
It’s not necessarily Juvederm Ultra Plus that migrates. It is a fact that to reduce bumps from the thick consistency of Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, it has to be placed deep in the lips. Deeper placement makes the muscles push the filler around and hence results in “migration”. Juvederm Ultra is thinner and can be placed more superficially without causing bumps, which reduces its “migration” due to its location.
What are Juvederm Plus Lip Injections?
Juvederm Plus is a short name for Juvederm Ultra Plus XC. Due to its thick consistency, regular Juvederm Ultra XC makes for a better filler that can be placed more superficially, hence reducing the risk of migration. Deeper placement of Juvederm Plus in lip injections results in muscles in the area pushing it out of its injected area.
Which is cheaper Botox or Juvederm?
Juvederm lasts longer, so in the long run, it can be the more affordable procedure. Depending on the area of treatment, a single area such as the lips can be less expensive per treatment of Botox compared to Juvederm fillers. However, Botox only lasts about 2-4 months while lip fillers usually last about 6-12 months.
How long does Juvederm Ultra Plus XC last?
The results from Juvederm Ultra Plus XC last from 9-12 months on average. Following this, repeated injections can be delivered to maintain the desired outcome.
What is the difference between Juvederm XC and Juvederm Ultra XC, and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC?
Juvederm XC is a shortened name for Juvederm Ultra XC. This filler is designed to fill in moderate to severe wrinkles without adding too much volume. In contrast, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC and Juvederm Voluma are excellent options for anyone who wants to add more volume and definition to the area of treatment.
Is Juvederm Ultra XC safe?
Yes, it is. As long as you do not have any contraindications and you follow your healthcare practitioner’s guidelines, the treatment will be safe and effective. Studies that were conducted to receive FDA approval have demonstrated that Juvederm fillers meet safety guidelines for use in qualified candidates.
How long does it take to see results from Juvederm Ultra Plus XC?
The effects of Juvederm Ultra Plus XC are almost immediate. Patients frequently notice a quick reduction in their wrinkles and folds. The skin will absorb the HA and settle over the next couple of weeks for full results from the treatment.
What are the side effects of Juvederm Ultra Plus XC?
The side effects of Juvederm Ultra Plus XC include discoloration, firmness, redness, pain, bruising, itching, and swelling that usually last less than a week. To reduce risks, we suggest following the guidelines from your healthcare practitioner.
