Frequently Asked Questions
Botox Q&A
Will I experience any side effects from BOTOX® Cosmetic?
The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Less frequently occurring (<3%) adverse reactions include pain in the face, erythema at the injection site, and muscle weakness.
What will happen if I choose not to continue BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments?
If you do not continue BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.
Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic, your physician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people return directly to work or normal activity following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.
Who should not use BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation.
Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
SCULPTRA Q&A
What is Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Sculptra® Aesthetic , or injectable poly-L-lactic acid, is different from traditional fillers. It replaces lost collagen by treating the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging. It can give you noticeable results that emerge subtly and can provide a more youthful-looking appearance that can last up to 2 years. Of course, individual results may vary. Sculptra® Aesthetic provides structure that lets your new look emerge more discreetly. And because it works gradually, you can get noticeable yet natural-looking results.
How does Sculptra® Aesthetic work?
Facial collagen loss is a key factor in an aging appearance. Collagen acts as a support structure for your skin. As time goes on, collagen isn’t replaced as readily as it once was. Sculptra® Aesthetic begins to work within the deep dermis, where your skin’s structure is reinforced as it helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of facial wrinkles and folds that have depleted over time.
What can I expect after treatment?
After your first treatment, it may appear that Sculptra® Aesthetic worked immediately because of the swelling from the injections and water used to dilute the product. In a few days, after your body absorbs the water and the swelling goes down, you may look as you did before the treatment. Be patient, Sculptra® Aesthetic takes time to work without looking like you’ve had work done.
What are the possible side effects of Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Important Safety Information for Sculptra® Aesthetic :
You should not use Sculptra® Aesthetic if you are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. It should not be injected while you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area and should not be injected into the red area of the lip. Use in the skin near the eyes is not recommended. Side effects may include injection site discomfort, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching and swelling. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported. In the clinical studies the numbers of small and larger lumps were low and most resolved without treatment.
How many treatments are required and how much will it cost?
Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment cost varies according to individual patient needs. The total cost will depend in part on the number of visits needed and the amount of Sculptra® Aesthetic required. During your consultation, our Nurse will give you a facial assessment and we can provide you with an estimate. The length of time required to complete treatment, and the amount of Sculptra® Aesthetic needed differs for each person. Our nurse will create a regimen that works to meet the unique needs of your face. On average, 3 treatments are given over a period of a few months. An average patient in our practice receives 2 vials, for 3-4 treatments. Each treatment is usually approximately 6 weeks apart. When considering cost, it’s also useful to consider how long specific treatments will last. With Sculptra® Aesthetic , the results can last up to 2 years. Of course, results and treatment sessions vary per patient. But, while considering your options, the length of time you’ll enjoy the results can be weighed along with the cost of treatment.

RADIESSE® Q&A
Radiesse® volumizing filler is different from the other “temporary” fine line fillers in that it is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres which are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. Since calcium is a mineral naturally found in your body, your body should naturally absorb the dermal filler over time.
Radiesse® can almost immediately begin filling the lost volume in your face. It is designed to continue to work by stimulating your body to produce its own natural collagen, thus helping the results to last longer!
When will I see results?
Most patients see results shortly after treatment. You may also see some additional swelling due to the injections for the first 2-3 days.

KYBELLA® Q&A
How Kybella® works
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
Will I need time to recover?
After KYBELLA® treatment, you will likely have some swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin. Be sure to inform your healthcare professional if you develop an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, and difficulty swallowing or injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), and damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site. Call your healthcare provider if you develop open sores or drainage from the treatment area.
What are the possible side effects of Kybella®?
KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including:
- Nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness)
- Trouble swallowing
- Injection site problems Including bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site. Call your healthcare provider if you develop open sores or drainage from the treatment area.
How many Kybella® treatment sessions will I need?
Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.
