Xeomin Sherman Oaks

Xeomin, also called incobotulinumtoxinA, is an FDA-approved treatment for glabellar lines (the wrinkles between the eyebrows). These glabellar lines are found on the glabella, and people also call them frown lines or ’11’ lines.

Xeomin can also be used in other areas of the face off-label to relax other lines and wrinkles such as forehead lines, lift brows, up-lift corners of lips, to reduce chin dimpling, and neck bands, and reduce lip wrinkles, amongst many other uses similar to Botox (see a more comprehensive list below).

Xeomin® Botulinum Toxin Type A In 100 And 50 Ld50 Units Vials For Medical Use Available In Cosmetic Injectables Center Sherman Oaks.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a type of Botulinum Toxin A. It is a protein derived from Clostridium botulinum. Xeomin is also called incobotulinumtoxinA. It relaxes the muscles between the eyebrows as well as other intended muscles, softening the appearance of wrinkles and reducing pain or other issues from overactive muscles.

Xeomin, like its counterparts Botox and Dysport, is a neuromodulation that blocks the connection between the nerves. It temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines. These muscles are the Procerus muscle and Corrugator Superficialis muscles.

Because Xeomin is the purest form of Botulinum Toxin A and doesn’t contain complex proteins like Botox, it has gotten the nickname “naked injectable”. This might reduce the risk of triggering hypersensitivity reactions, possibly making it less foreign than the other variants.  However, many believe that the reduced length of the protein chain in Xeomin also results in reduced longevity compared to other brands such as Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify.

Xeomin relaxes targeted muscles of the face to remove the ‘11’ lines. When placed strategically by expert injectors, the other muscles that are important for a natural appearance are spared, so that you don’t have a plastic look after the procedure. You will look younger, natural, and rejuvenated!

Using Xeomin doesn’t just treat or reverse facial lines that have etched into the skin, it also is preventive. By reducing the movement of muscles that can scrunch up the skin covering it, the skin in kept in a flat/straight shape that doesn’t fold excessively.  This prevents the formation of wrinkles. Needless to say, prevention is much easier than reversal of deep wrinkles.

Xeomin Benefits

Xeomin is gaining traction among cosmetic experts in the US. With great reviews, it is now a great alternative to Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify. Xeomin smoothes out facial wrinkle lines and makes your skin look more youthful. Below are a few reasons Xeomin may be great for you.

What Results to Expect:

  • Treats Facial Lines and Wrinkles: Xeomin is effective in treating facial lines. It relaxes the muscles under the skin in targeted areas. This smooths the wrinkles out and makes you look younger and more confident.
  • Treats many Medical Conditions: Xeomin can reduce pain from tight neck/shoulder area, muscle knots, tennis elbow, migraines, tension headaches, and TMJ.  It can also reduce sweating in the underarms, hands, feet, and hairline/face.  Other uses include the treatment of:
    • Tremors
    • Achalasia (tight esophageal sphincter)
    • Urinary stress incontinence
    • Anal fissures
    • Depression
    • Strabismus
  • Prevents More Wrinkling: Xeomin doesn’t have just curative functions. It also prevents the further wrinkling of the skin of the glabella.
  • Versatile Procedure:  Even though Xeomin is FDA-approved for treating glabellar lies, it can also treat many other conditions such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and smoker’s lines (see below for a comprehensive list of possible treatment areas.) It is versatile in application and is great for all dynamic lines, folds, and wrinkles.
  • Durable Results: The results last up to 3-4 months.
  • Possible Reduced Tolerance: Unlike the other variants of incobotulinumtoxinA there may be a reduced risk of developing tolerance to Xeomin due to the reduced size of the proteins. Using the other ones, there are proteins that your body can notice to form antibodies. Xeomin due to its smaller protein size, some believe that it is less detectable by the body’s immune system.
  • Convenient Procedure:  The procedure is quick, lasting about 5-10 minutes. It also has minimal downtime. You can get back home a few hours post-procedure.
  • Minimal Risk: The procedure is relatively safe. It has little or no permanent risks. There is also minimal risk of an allergic reaction. This is because it does not have any complex proteins attached to it.
  • Minimally Invasive Procedure: This procedure is non-surgical.  It doesn’t require the use of general anesthesia and excludes surgical risks.

    Xeomin FAQs

    What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is known as a competitor to Botox, with a smaller-size accessory protein. While there are no studies to confirm benefits to this reduced protein size, many believe that it’s more “pure” or “organic”. Others believe that the smaller size of this particle reduces the longevity of results. the best way to know if Xeomin is right for you is to try different neuromodulator products and compare longevity and effect for yourself, as each person may respond differently.

How long does xeomin take to work?

Similar to Botox and most other neuromodulators, it takes about 14 days for Xeomin to fully kick in.

        How much does Xeomin cost?

Xeomin cost ranges from $12 to $17 per unit. So 20 units comes out to about $300, and 50 units comes out to about $750. However, the average dose used is 64, which puts it at about $950 per session for forehead, frown, and crow’s feet areas.

How many units of xeomin do i need?

The average dose of Xeomin is 64 units. However, this depends on the treated area. For lip flip, for example, the average dose is from 2 to 5 units.

Is Xeomin as good as Botox?

As a competitor to Botox, Xeomin has a smaller protein size. Some consider this to be a benefit over botox, while others feel that Xeomin does not last as long because of this smaller accessory protein. The company per FDA clinical trials has published data showing similar effect and duration between the two, but the majority of our patients have shared with us that their results do not last as long when using Xeomin.

              How long does Xeomin last?

Xeomin treatment results are seen between 7-10 days and last between 2-4 months. Maintaining adequate skincare, taking zinc supplements, scheduling touch-up sessions, avoiding excessive sunlight, and use of other anti-aging products can help the results last longer.

What lasts longer, Dysport or Xeomin?

Usually, neuromodulators have different results for longevity and strength on different people.  However, our experience has shown it to be the least strong/long lasting of all of the neuromodulator options on the market such as Dysport, Daxxify, Jeuveau, and Botox.

How many units of Xeomin is equal to Botox?

20 units of Xeomin are the same as 20 units of Botox. When changing from one product to another, the dose that was used for Botox will be the same dose as Xeomin. However, if the effectiveness and longevity is different, you will have to adjust your dose at the next visit.

Why did my Xeomin only last a month?

If you have had good results with Xeomin in the past, it may have been a lower dose in the targeted areas, or if the bottle was not turned upside down after reconstitution, some of the active ingredients may not have mixed into the solution.  If however you are comparing your results to other neuromodulators, it may be due to the lack of accessory protein in Xeomin.  We have unfortunately received much of the same feedback from our patients when comparing similar dosing of Xeomin to other neuromodulators such as Dysport, Botox, Daxxify, and Jeuveau.

Is Xeomin good for crow's feet?

Yes. Xeomin is FDA-approved and commonly used for the treatment of crow’s feet. Crow’s feet are the lines next to the eyes that become more pronounced when smiling.

How do you know if Xeomin is working?

If you can no longer contract the muscles that Xeomin was injected into, then Xeomin has started to work.  It usually takes about 7-14 days for results to kick in.

Should I get Botox or Xeomin?

It depends on your lifestyle and genetics. As a competitor to Botox, Xeomin has a smaller protein size. Some consider this to be a benefit over Botox, while others feel that Xeomin does not last as long because of this smaller accessory protein. The company per FDA clinical trials has published data showing similar effects and duration between the two, but the majority of our patients have shared with us that their results do not last as long when using Xeomin.

What should I avoid after Xeomin?

After Xeomin, you should avoid exercising, hot showers, warm sauna, lying down, or bending over for about 4 hours. Otherwise, the increased blood supply to the area can wash away some of the Xeomin.

                              Does Xeomin look more natural?

Not necessarily.  A natural-looking result depends on many factors… some of which are injection technique, number of units, and the patient’s genetic composition of their muscle strength, position, and reaction.  While many believe that Xeomin is not as strong as other neuromodulators when compared unit to unit, other neuromodulators can be reduced in dose to achieve the same result.  Hence, technique is more important than product type for a natural-looking outcome.

Can Xeomin be used for marionette lines?

Yes. If the marionette lines are dynamic (created with muscle movement), then, reducing the bunching up of the skin by relaxing the muscles may improve their appearance. However, if the lines are static (present without facial animation) or if they are created by non-treatable muscles (such as cheek muscles), then they will not resolve.

What is the black box warning for Xeomin?

The black box warning of Xeomin warns about the possibility of the distant spread of the toxin effect.  Effects of all neuromodulators can potentially spread from the area of injection to produce symptoms of botulinum toxin.  This can occur hours to weeks after injection.  The life-threatening symptoms can be swallowing and breathing difficulty as there have been reports of death. The greatest risk is in children treated for spasticity but symptoms can also occur in adults, especially those that have underlying predisposing conditions.

Can you switch from Botox to Xeomin?

Yes, both Xeomin and Botox are FDA-approved neuromodulators and work similarly. It is safe to alternate between the two brands at each of your visits. However, we do not encourage that as there are no benefits to this routine. If one works better for another social, it’s best to stick to the same brand.

                                      Who should not use Xeomin?

Anyone with neuromuscular disorders should consult their neurologist prior to starting a neuromodulator such as Xeomin. This is because someone who already has muscle weakness may have worsened their symptoms by relaxing the muscles further with Xeomin. Those pregnant or breast-feeding may also want to avoid Xeomin as has no safety studies in this population. Any allergies to the ingredients of Xeomin is also a contraindication.
