Vollure Sherman Oaks

First and Only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Dermal Filler FDA Approved for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

JUVEDERM VOLLURE™ XC was first approved in Europe as JUVEDERM VOLIFT® in 2013. As with the new Voluma and Volbella, this is also formulated with Allergan’s proprietary VYCROSS® technology, which blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, contributing to the gel’s duration of 18 months, the longest lasting filler FDA approved for the nasolabial folds (smile lines).

For many patients, Vollure fillers are a natural-looking way to keep skin looking young. When compared to other treatments, this filler can provide longer-lasting results. Vollure is a type of Juvederm filler that can help address signs of aging around the mid-face.

How Do Vollure Dermal Fillers Work?

Vollure is a type of Juvederm filler and is also known as Juvederm Vollure XC. It is hyaluronic acid-based, meaning it adds volume to the face through the injection of hyaluronic acid. Produced naturally by the body, hyaluronic acid helps provides a bounce-like texture and attracts moisture for the skin, while collagen provides the scaffolding, and elastin gives elasticity. However, hyaluronic acids, collagen, and elastin production all slow down with age. This can result in older-, saggier-, wrinklier-looking skin.

When a patient gets a Juvederm injection, the administrator typically massages the targeted area to evenly distribute the product and reduce any swelling. One of the things that make Vollure unique is a technology called Vycross. This allows Vollure to hold the hyaluronic acid together as a cohesive gel, keeping it intact even after it is injected into the skin. This unique texture makes it easier to mold, causing it to seem as though it is “lifting” the skin.

Vollure vs Other Types of Juvederm

Different types of Juvederm target different areas of the face. Juvederm Vollure targets the mid-face area, specifically wrinkles and lines around the mouth and nose (more popularly known as smile lines). It doesn’t attract as much water as the Hylacross Juvederm (Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus) and blends more into the skin. Hence it is better for areas that aren’t too deep. It also lasts longer (18 months on average) compared to most other fillers (6-12 months.) Juvederm Volbella is used to nonsurgically enhance the size of the lips. This formula is gentle enough to be a natural-looking way to correct any lip asymmetries.

Candidates for Vollure

Injection of Vollure fillers allows for a relatively quick, easy, and painless way for patients to rejuvenate their appearance. However, some patients are better suited to receive Vycross type injectables than others. Most healthy adults over 21 years old who do not have many allergies tend to be good candidates for Vollure fillers, especially if they are non-smokers. However, those with multiple allergies are not ideal candidates for Vollure as complications and reactions to this category of Juvederm products are more common. It goes without saying that these are temporary procedures and some candidates may need more volume of product or more frequent visits to achieve their desired result. In addition, surgeries such as a facelift may be a better option for those with excess loose skin and deep folds that fillers cannot treat.

Patients who are breastfeeding or pregnant are discouraged from receiving dermal filler injections due to the lack of safety studies in these groups. Additionally, those with active acne, severe allergies, a history of anaphylaxis, or certain autoimmune diseases may be ineligible for this procedure. Best results are achieved when there is an ongoing, honest, and open relationship between the provider and patient as followups are invaluable. Every individual can react differently and may require a different technique to achieve his/her desired result. Dr. Soleiman may be able to find the right treatment plan even for patients who are not candidates for Vollure fillers.

Preparing for Fillers

Like most injectables, Vollure fillers are a minimally-invasive treatment. Patients may be able to go in for a consultation and get the procedure during the same visit. Generally, patients do not have to undergo any extensive preparation. However, to reduce the risk of bruising, it’s best to avoid blood-thinning medications (ie aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, omega 3, and ginkgo biloba) and alcohol for 5 days prior to your visit.

Recovering from Fillers

For the most part, patients can return to their normal activities immediately after Vollure filler injections as it is a minimally invasive procedure with no downtime. Mild swelling may be present but is not usually significant. If bruising occurs, it becomes more visible a few hours after the procedure and can get worse with strenuous activity. Cover up and other makeup or creams are discouraged for 24 hours to reduce the risk of contamination in the area. Sun exposure is also discouraged for a few days after any type of piercing of the skin. Any negative side effects tend to subside considerably over time. Patients are typically able to return to daily activities immediately with little indication of having had a procedure..

Vollure FAQ

Are Vollure Fillers Safe?

Vollure is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler approved by the FDA for correcting moderate to severe wrinkles and folds in adults over 21 years old. Several clinical trials have tested Vollure for safety and effectiveness with positive results. Additionally, hyaluronic acid-based fillers are very common.

How Long Do the Effects of Vollure Fillers Last?

The effects of Vollure are noticeable immediately after the procedure. This makes it easier for patients and cosmetic providers to work together to get the desired results. Typically, it takes anywhere from about 18 months for Vollure fillers to dissolve.

Can I Get Vollure Fillers at the Same Time as Other Procedures?

The answer to this depends on what other procedures you have in mind. You can safely combine Vollure with some other injectable procedures such as Botox and Juvederm fillers.

Does Vollure Have Any Side Effects?

Some minor side effects may follow your Vollure injections. These may include itching, lumps or bumps, minor pain, redness, and tenderness. We use a machine called vein finder at our office that can detect veins with the use of lasers. This helps us identify the veins and avoid them during injections so that the risk of bruising is less. Though we try to minimize bruising and swelling, these symptoms are not uncommon. These side effects usually subside within two weeks.

Is It Painful to Get Vollure Fillers?

As with all Juvederm fillers, Vollure comes pre-mixed with lidocaine. This is a local anesthetic that numbs the body from any pain. Any other discomfort should be relatively minor and manageable through over-the-counter medication and ice packs.
