What is AQUAGOLD?
Aquagold is a 24 karat gold-plated micro-injection technique that painlessly delivers customized serums at the ideal depth of 600 microns into the superficial layers of the skin. The Aquagold applicator contains a small receptacle filled with ingredients to conform to each patient’s specific skin needs. When creating a customized serum, elements such as hyaluronic acids, micro amounts of botox or other dermal fillers, vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts are standard.
Aquagold is an impeccable alternative to typical skin-enhancing fillers administered using standard needles. Multiple injections can be time-consuming and painful for both patients and practitioners. Aquagold is a safe and painless cosmetic technique that delivers long-lasting results with no recovery time. Aquagold eradicates fine lines, scars, large pores, and uneven skin tone or complexion while enormously boosting your body’s natural collagen and elastin levels. Suppose you want to achieve a luminous, healthy, youthful look in a safe, non-damaging manner. In that case, Aquagold may be the perfect solution for you.

Before & Preparation
- Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanning products for at least a week before treatment. Receiving treatment within 24 hours of direct sun exposure can result in hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (white spots).
- Be sure your skin is free of any makeup, sunscreens, or lotions on the day of treatment.
- Avoid any chemical peels to the area for two weeks before and after treatment.
- Avoid the use of Retin-A, Renova, and Tazorac during the week before and after treatment.
- Avoid skin irritants such as waxing or chemical hair removal for two weeks before and after treatment.
- Be sure to inform your providers of any changes in medical history or personal activities relevant to the treatment.
During the Procedure
- The procedure is virtually pain-free and does not require any anesthetic or topical numbing creams.
- Your practitioner will cleanse the skin, and the chosen elements will be placed into the sterile container of the Aquagold device.
- The Aquagold device is then pressed into the skin in an overlapping pattern, evenly distributing the product.
- This process creates a natural-looking result, making a face appear tighter, smoother, and rejuvenated.
- The microneedles of the Aquagold device stimulate cellular renewal in the outermost layers of the skin while dispersing the rejuvenating solution into the dermis, delivering enhanced results.
Aftercare & Recovery
- Slight redness and discomfort are standard directly after treatment. Side effects will subside within 1-2 hours.
- Avoid washing your face for at least 6 hours following your treatment. Be sure to use a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer that does not contain any anti-aging ingredients.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours following your treatment- preferably 1-2 weeks.
- Avoid saunas, swimming, steam rooms, and exercise that provokes sweating if irritation of the treated area exists.
- Avoid applying makeup for at least 6 hours after treatment.
- If staying out of the sun is unavoidable, utilize physical prevention such as a protective hat or high-quality, full-spectrum sunscreen.
- If skin irritation is still evident, sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated to reduce inflammation.
- We recommend that maintenance treatments are received every 3-4 months to preserve the best results.
Treatment Areas
The Aquagold treatment is a new cosmetic method focused on efficient and even distribution of rejuvenating products to large areas of the skin. The skin is a formidable barrier that was biologically programmed to keep things out. The ultra-fine, hollow microchannels of the Aquagold device allow products to penetrate the skin efficiently and effectively for the best possible results in a wide variety of areas, such as
- full face
- neck
- the area around the eyes
- eyelids and up to the lash line
- on and around the lips
- décolleté

Am I a Good Candidate for AQUAGOLD?
The Aquagold treatment is perfect for those looking for a youthful appearance without the risks and side effects of plastic surgery. It is also an excellent option for those with scarring (acne or surgical), uneven skin tone, or hyperpigmentation. However, we recommend that those with active acne wait until the skin has healed before receiving treatment to avoid the spread of unwanted bacteria. Please book a consultation with one of our master nurses or practitioners to determine if Aquagold is the best option for you.
- Typical Age: Aquagold is safe for adults of all ages.
- Skin Type: Aquagold is safe for all skin types, including dark or sensitive skin.
- Health Restrictions: We do not recommend Aquagold treatment if the patient is pregnant. We also do not recommend Aquagold If the patient has any open sores or active acne, as it may provoke the spread of bacteria.
Similar & Related Procedures
- Microneedling: The microneedling method renders minor controlled injuries to the superficial layer of the skin to trigger a healing response and stimulate collagen production. Treatment is often, but not always, followed with topical serums.

AQUAGOLD FAQs
What is Aquagold treatment?
Aquagold is a micro-channeling cosmetic device that painlessly dispenses a customized cocktail of skin-enhancing nutrients and fillers to the superficial layers of the skin. The hollow, 24-karat gold, ultra-fine needles boost natural collagen production while rejuvenating the skin.
How long does aquagold last?
While results tend to be more evident 3-7 days after treatment, your skin will instantly appear firmer, smoother, and more youthful. This effect will last approximately 3-4 months. Routine treatments throughout the year (every 1-3 months) will continue to enhance the overall quality of your skin.
How many units of Botox are in AquaGold?
That depends on your preference and how large of a surface area is being treated. Generally, 20-40 units of Botox are used.
Is HydraFacial the same as AquaGold?
No, they are very different modalities. Acquagold is a jar of ingredients attached to microneedles that insert or tattoo the products into the skin via tapping by hand. Hydro, facial on the other hand is a cleansing handpiece that pushes water and cleansing agents from one hole, and sucks the dirty water from another hole after it touches/washes the skin There are no needles involved. Acquagold usually contains fillers and Botox inside while Acquagold contains cleansing agents and topical chemicals that are usually found in daily creams or in Peels to summarize, Hydra Facial is more of a cleaning procedure while Acquagold addresses collagen stimulation and fine wrinkles.
How long do Aquagold results last?
The results of the AquaGold facial usually last about 2 to 3 months.
Is AquaGold better than microneedling?
The difference between AquaGold and microneedling and which is superior depends on your goals. Microneedling reaches deeper levels which makes it more painful, but also more effective. Also, we usually do not use Botox with microneedling as we don’t want it to be pushed into deeper layers where the facial movement muscles reside. AquaGold however is more superficial, less painful, and has less downtime, but also it’s not as effective as microneedling.
Is AquaGold painful?
Due to the 24K gold plated tiny needles being so short and small, AquaGold is not a painful procedure. In fact, almost all of our patients forgo the numbing option we provide for our patients prior to this treatment.
What is the downtime after AquaGold facial?
Due to the very shallow entry of the needles, AquaGold generally has no downtime or bruising associated with it.
What are the side effects of AquaGold?
Aquagold is a very shallow and benign treatment that has low risks if any. There’s always a possibility of allergic reactions to products that are delivered through Aquagold. Also, if the provider isn’t careful, scraping of the skin can happen. Lastly, if there is sun exposure soon after treatment, hyperpigmentation can occur.
What is the difference between Morpheus8 and AquaGold?
AquaGold has much smaller and shorter needles that do not even penetrate 1 mm, while Morpheus 8 can penetrate from 1 mm to 8 mm deep into and under the skin to reach the fat compartments if desired. Another difference is the ingredients delivered. While AquaGold can tattoo a small amount of Botox and fillers onto the outermost layer of skin, Morpheus 8 delivers Radiofrequency which is a type of heat that shrinks and tightens the skin as well as the fat underneath if chosen. In short, Morpheus 8 is more aggressive, with more efficacious results.
Does AquaGold stimulate collagen?
AquaGold has small micro needles that stimulate collagen. However, when compared to needles of micro-needling and Morpheus eight that are a bit thicker and longer (with adjustable depth), Aquagold needles are much smaller and hence result in a bit less collagen.
What not to do after Aqua gold?
It’s best to avoid touching or manipulating the face, sun exposure, or any topical creams and lotions for 24 hours.
Can you see results after one facial?
Facials by design will clean the skin and enhance glow even after one visit. However, medical facials, such as Lasergenesis and peels can have more significant results also in anti-aging.
Does AquaGold help with acne scars?
Yes, AquaGold makes tiny holes in the skin and the reflex of the skin is to heal them. Those puncture sites will contribute to regrowth and remodeling of the skin in areas of acne scars and help improve and smooth them out.
How long does Aquagold take to work?
An improvement in skin quality is seen immediately after treatment. However, the results are more prominent 3 to 7 days after and can last as long as 3 to 4 months. Receiving multiple treatments every 1 to 3 months will enhance skin quality long-term and promote a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Is Aquagold treatment worth it?
The results of typical facial therapies last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. With Aquagold, results can last up to 4 months! The application is painless compared to similar procedures such as microneedling. One Aquagold treatment leaves your skin looking hydrated, luminous, and poreless.
What’s used in AquaGold procedures?
Usually, the Aquagold cocktail is composed of neuromodulators such as Botox (dose can vary, but usually a 20-unit dose is mixed in), thin hyaluronic acids such as Skin Vive, RHA 1, RHA Redensity, Restylane Silk, or Restylane Refyne, and normal saline. Other add-ons can include PRP or PRF, as well as other skin-nourishing agents.
