Restylane-L® is a dermal filler that improves signs of aging by smoothing facial wrinkles and fine lines. Restylane-L is also FDA-approved to add definition and fullness to lips.

Restylane-L is a part of the Restylane family of fillers, such as Restylane Silk and Restylane Contour, each with varying consistencies and thicknesses. Restylane-L contains lidocaine, a numbing solution, which is the reason for the ‘L’ in its name.

How the Procedure Works

Restylane-L is administered with a syringe to the treatment area on the patient’s face. It contains a numbing solution (lidocaine) that helps minimize pain and discomfort during treatment. The pain associated with treatment depends upon the area being injected. Watch an under-eye filler procedure at Cosmetics Injectables Center.

Before & Preparation

Our master injectors will provide all pre-treatment instructions and answer your questions. Before your injection appointment, we ask that you avoid products such as ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, and Aspirin, as well as refrain from consuming alcohol which could increase the chances of bruising and swelling. If you have a history of fever blisters and cold sores, your provider may prescribe Valtrex.

During Restylane-L Procedure

During the Procedure

A Restylane-L injection procedure is a quick, highly comfortable, and non-invasive office visit.

Restylane-L can treat any area of your face. It is FDA approved for use on the lips and is effective for the under-eye area, forehead, and lines around the mouth and nose.

Your skin will be cleaned and treated with a local anesthetic before the procedure.

A thin, fine needle injects Restylane-L into the desired treatment areas. The numbing agent, lidocaine, helps reduce pain or discomfort during treatment.

Many patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure due to the numbing agent.

Aftercare & Recovery

Patients may experience post-treatment swelling and bruising. This side effect is common with any injectable cosmetic procedure. Immediately following the procedure, your provider will apply an ice pack or cold compress to the treated area to minimize bruising or swelling.

Your provider may prescribe antihistamines or prednisone to help with swelling.

One of the best qualities of Restylane-L is the minimal recovery time many patients experience.

Visible results are immediate after the initial session; some patients may require a second session. After the procedure, avoid sun exposure, alcohol, strenuous activity, and make-up application for about 24 hours, and sleep in an elevated position.

Patients can receive maintenance treatments every six to 18 months.

Restylane-L FAQs

What is Restylane-L?

Restylane-L is an injectable gel filler made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already in the human body. Restylane-L also contains 0.3% lidocaine, a numbing substance, to reduce discomfort. The clear filler is injected to add volume and fullness to correct medium to deep facial wrinkles.

What is the difference between Restylane and Restylane-L?

Because Restylane-L contains a numbing substance, patients reported reduction of discomfort with this injectable filler than with Restylane. The reduction in pain continues for up to one hour after the treatment.

Are Restylane-L and Lyft the same?

The size of gel particles in Restylane-L and Restylane-Lyft is the main difference between these two injectables. The hyaluronic acid gel in Restylane Lift is larger than the particles in Restylane-L, filling unique areas that may need a more dense formula to plump up or fill in.

How much is a syringe of Restylane-L?

Restylane-L is priced by syringe and costs between $600 to $900 a syringe. Costs may vary depending upon the size of the syringe used, the number of syringes needed, and the anatomical location administered. Different facial areas require varying amounts of Restylane-L, resulting in cost variations.

Can Restylane-L be used in cheeks?

Restylane-L can be used anywhere on the face. Each Restylane filler is composed of hyaluronic acid and is designed for a specific skin solution. Restylane products smooth minimal to severe wrinkles, soften lines around your nose and mouth, and add volume and plump up cheeks and lips.

Is Restylane-L better than Juvederm?

Restylane and Juvederm are very similar, with products best suited for specific areas of the face and body. Both are non-invasive fillers containing hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. Both have products that contain lidocaine which reduces pain during injections.

What can Restylane-L be used for?

Restylane-L can be used on label or off label practically anywhere on the face. Dr. Soleiman’s favorite place to use Restylane-L is off-label under the eyes. It has FDA approval for use in the lips and nasolabial folds, however, at Cosmetic Injectables Center, we like to use Restylane L under the eyes, lips, chin, and under eye areas.

How long does Restylane-L last for?

Restylane-L lasts between six to nine months. However, if it’s injected into an area that is more static and less dynamic, it can last longer.

Is Restylane-L good for lips?

Yes, Restylane-L is a good product to use on the lips.

What is the difference between Restylane L and Restylane Kysse?

Restylane Kysse uses XpresHAn technology that helps the product to more effortlessly blend into the tissues of the treatment area. Restylane Kysse is also a bit firmer than Restylane L so it is ideal for use in the lips specifically as it is better at holding its form in dynamic areas.
