RHA 3 Sherman Oaks
Another filler on the market by Teoxane is the RHA 3-filler that enhances lip volume and treats wrinkles and moderate lines.
If you are looking for a way to correct areas such as marionette lines, oral commissures, or contour your lips, RHA 3 is the perfect one. The filler lasts up to 15 months, making it one of the most durable fillers on the market.
What is RHA 3?
RHA 3 is part of the RHA® Collection of dermal fillers which has been approved in Europe since 2015 and in the USA since 2020. The RHA family, an award-winning selection of designer fillers, consists of Redensity, (AKA RHA1), RHA2, RHA3, and RHA4.
These innovative fillers were developed to act like the natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies. With fewer chemical modifications than other fillers, they are made to move with your facial motion. This makes it more natural looking whether your face is in movement or at rest.
Our faces make many movements throughout each day. Every day we eat, speak, smile, laugh, squint, and frown – these are examples of dynamic movements. Since these expressions are repetitive, they can cause wrinkles and folds as we age. Some other fillers that correct these movements may look unnatural and stiff or “plastic” when the face is actually moving. That’s why the family of RHA fillers was developed.
Amongst the portfolio, RHA 3 has just the right amount of firmness, water affinity, and structural support. This allows the perfect lip enhancement, and filling of moderate to severe lines such as smile lines and marionette lines. Since RHA 3 more closely mimics our own hyaluronic acid, the results are much more natural looking, leaving you looking renewed and revitalized without looking stiff, puffy, or “fake.”
Repetitive/dynamic facial movements include:
- Frowning
- Smiling
- Talking
- Laughing
- Squinting
- Chewing

Types of RHA Fillers
There are four levels of RHA as each was formulated for very specific areas of the face. They include:
- RHA 1 (Redensity): The thinnest formula that smooths and lightly effaces wrinkles on the skin or lips, commonly known as lip lines, smoker lines, granny lines or barcode lines. It was formulated to look soft and natural around the mouth or in the thinnest of wrinkles, reducing the risk of small bumps in superficial skin injections.
- RHA 2: RHA 2 is approved for moderate facial folds. A stretchier formula just firmer than Redensity (RHA 1) that is ideal for moderate facial wrinkles, dynamic wrinkles, and minor plumping. It’s very flexible and is a wonderful option for radial cheek lines (known as accordion lines) and also areas around the mouth. It’s also a good option for under eyes and lip enhancement.
- RHA 3: RHA3 is a thicker formula than RHA 2 that is best for building up volume and moderate in-set wrinkles/folds, such as those of smile lines aka nasolabial folds, marionette lines, cheek accordion lines. It is also well recognized for its longevity and structurally supported results in lip enhancement.
- RHA 4: RHA4 is the strongest/thickest formula within the RHA portfolio that is ideal for deep facial folds and contouring facial features like temple hollows, cheeks, and the jawline. RHA 4 is the firmest of the four.
Your injector will advise on the best RHA filler to use for each part of the face you are targeting to help achieve your desired results.

RHA 3 FAQs
What is RHA filler?
RHA is a unique filler that was specifically developed for dynamic movement in the face (laughing, talking, chewing, etc.). It consists of Redensity (RHA1), RHA2, RHA3, and RHA4. It mimics the hyaluronic acid in your own body so that it moves with your face to look beautiful and natural whether you’re moving or at rest.
How long does RHA filler last?
The span for hyaluronic acid fillers depends on where it’s injected, the amount of movement in that area, amount of regular exercise, as well as your own metabolism. RHA fillers have long longevity, usually lasting between 9-15 months.
What is the difference between RHA Redensity, 2, 3 and 4?
They are all a part of the RHA family, from thinnest (Redensity AKA RHA1) to most firm (RHA 4). Depending on the desired result, providers can choose the correct firmness for each area of the face, to achieve either subtle thin wrinkle treatment or firm, jawline contour. For example, Redensity is perfect for super thin wrinkles, while RHA 3 is great for lip enhancement and volumization, and RHA 4 for cheeks and jawline definition.
What are the side effects of RHA fillers?
RHA fillers are generally safe with a skilled injector. However, as with any injection there is a temporary risk of bruising and swelling at the injection site. More rare complications include occlusion of vessels or allergic reactions. Avoiding alcohol, fish oil, aspirin and other blood thinners in the days before your treatment will help reduce the risk of bruising.
How painful is receiving RHA fillers?
Fillers themselves are typically painless due to the numbing agent lidocaine pre-mixed within its gel. However, the pokes may be slightly uncomfortable for some people.
How long will it take to heal?
Results are seen immediately after treatment, however, if you have bruising or swelling it may take up to two weeks to subside.

RHA 4, on the other hand, is firmer and intended for deeper injection sites to correct severe facial wrinkles and volume loss in areas like the cheeks, chin, and jawline
Is RHA 3 FDA approved?
Yes, RHA 3 is FDA-approved for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds, as well as for lip augmentation in adults
