SKINVIVE™ by JUVEDERM®
In a constantly evolving world of cosmetic products, here is a new treatment that is making waves — SkinVIVE by Juvederm. SkinVIVE is produced by AbbVie Company of Allergan Aesthetics- the same one that makes Botox and Juvederm. It is vital in improving the quality of the skin of the cheek.
SkinVIVE Juvederm is an injectable gel containing hyaluronic acid. It improves the texture of the skin in your cheeks by hydrating the skin. It has proven to produce positive results, with minimal side effects and complications.
What is SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®?
Skindive is a novel, FDA approved, minimally invasive hyaluronic acid dermal moisturizer. When injected into the dermis under the cheeks, it smoothes and hydrates the skin of the cheeks. It differs from all other fillers. Other fillers replace lost volume in the treatment areas. SkinVIVE injection hydrates the skin around the treated area, resulting in plump, healthier, and glowing skin.
SkinVIVE, also called Volite in Europe, is delivered as a microdroplet into the skin’s dermis. It works well with all shades of skin color. It hydrates the skin from within, reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores on the skin of the cheeks. You look younger and your skin gets healthier and more supple.
SkinVIVE contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid contains molecules that attract and retain water. SkinVIVE contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, that makes the procedure more comfortable. It numbs the treatment area and makes injecting SkinVIVE under the skin easier.
How Does SkinVIVE™ Work?
Hydration is vital in improving how your skin looks. Properly hydrated skin looks smooth, youthful, and radiant.
SkinVIVE is a hyaluronic acid-based gel that is injected under the skin. The treatment area is carefully selected by the expert for optimal results.
SkinVIVE is delivered intradermally as a microdroplet into the skin of the cheeks using a needle and syringe. It is delivered in volumes of 0.001mls to 0.005mls and the space between two injection sites is 0.5cm-1cm apart. The droplets hydrate and smoothen the skin.
It increases the release of Aquaporins that increase the influx and efflux of water from the skin’s cells. This fosters proper hydration of the skin around your cheeks.
SkinVIVE also increases the production of collagen. Collagen then increases skin elasticity. This results in reduced facial lines and wrinkles.
What are the Results of SKINVIVE™?
SSkinVIVE is the only FDA-approved filler that functions to hydrate and smoothen the skin of the cheeks. It comes highly recommended among dermatologists and plastic surgeons. This is because of its unique results, minimal complication, and little downtime.
A study conducted on some patients 6 months after they used SkinVIVE showed positive results. 63% of patients said they had radiant skin after the procedure, 72% were impressed with how hydrated their skin was after the procedure, and 83% were satisfied with how healthy their skin looked.

SKINVIVE™ by JUVEDERM® FAQs
What is skinvive by Juvederm?
SkinVive is an injectable hyaluronic acid that is designed to hydrate the skin. By utilizing the same known and reliable Vycross technology that’s in many other Juvéderm products, SkinVive is a reversible product that attracts water and moisture, creating hydrated bedding underneath the skin which can result in the reduction of fine lines while making the skin glow.
What is the difference between SkinVive and other fillers?
While SkinVive is an injectable made up of hyaluronic acid like many other fillers, it is much thinner in consistency and can diffuse well into the tissue. As a result, it will improve skin texture with hydration as opposed to volumizing or creating contour, which is the purpose of other fillers. In other words, they serve two very different purposes. Skinvive hydrates the skin, improving skin glow and texture with subtle results and long-lasting hydration. Filler can restore volume and sculpt the face with more dramatic results.
How much does Skinvive by Juvederm cost?
The cost depends on the amount used/injected. Generally, each syringe costs about $400-$700. When comparing it to a facial, the outcome is longer lasting and more cost-effective.
How long does skinvive last?
Just like any other injectable product, the longevity of SkinVive depends on each individual’s metabolism. While it has FDA approval to last up to 6 months, some people enjoy results of up to one year. Smoking, exercising, excessive sun exposure, high metabolism, high levels of animation, extreme dieting, and weight loss can reduce the longevity of SkinVive.
Which is better, Sculptra or Skinvive?
Two entirely different injectable modalities Sculptra is made of PLLA and promotes collagen production, while SkinVive is made of hyaluronic acid and provides hydration. Both can result in glowy skin for these different reasons and can even be used in combination on separate visits.
Who is a good candidate for Skinvive?
Candidates for Skin Vive include any non-pregnant individuals >18 years of age that have a dehydrated, sun damaged, wrinkled, or leathery appearance to their skin. It’s very popular for the accordion lines that appear over the lower cheek area.
Who is not a candidate for SkinVive?
Anyone who’s allergic to SkinVive’s ingredients or to gram (+) bacteria, is pregnant or is having an infection or other skin condition in the area of treatment may not be a good candidate for Skin Vive. History of anaphylaxis also deserves precaution.
Does skinvive increase collagen?
Any needle poke can result in increased collagen. However, SkinVive itself doesn’t induce additional collagen production. Microneedling, Lasergenesis, Morpheus 8, Sculptra, and threads are better procedures for collagen production.
Why does Skinvive take so long to work?
Skin Vive starts working within 2 weeks after injection when the swelling and bruising has resolved and the product has spread evenly. However, the results continue to improve as the aquaphor channels open and allow better moisture balancing from inner skin to outer skin.
Is skinvive better than Botox?
SkinVive and Botox address different issues. Botox relaxes muscles, which reduces ability to scrunch up skin into wrinkles such as frown lines, crows feet, and forehead lines. Skinvive on the other hand reduces wrinkles by hydrating them. Botox is great for the upper face, while Skin Vive is good for cheeks, other lower face fine lines, and for texture. They are best used simultaneously.
Is SkinVive good for under eyes?
SkinVive is not recommended for the undereye area. This is because the undereyes have a lot of lymphatics and can accumulate excessive water. Just as alcohol can make the undereyes swell, the moisture retained by SkinVive can also make the undereyes swell, but for an extended amount of time.
What is the difference between Skinvive and Juvederm?
Skinvive is one of the many injectable hyaluronic acids from the juvederm family. Juvederm’s other hyaluronic acid injectables include Volux, Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella. Skin Vive is the only product in the Juvederm family that’s designed to hydrate rather than volumize.
What is the downtime for SkinVive by Juvederm?
Other than a risk for swelling and bruising, there’s generally no downtime for SkinVive treatment.
What are the side effects of Juvederm Skinvive?
The side effects of a SkinVive treatment can include localized redness, swelling and bruising. Other rare risks with the procedure can include allergy type reaction to the product or occlusion of blood vessels.
Is SkinVive FDA-approved?
Yes, SkinVive received an official FDA approval on May 11 2023 with an indication for increasing the smoothness of the skin.
Does skinvive plump the skin?
Yes and no. It plumps the skin with hydration, but it does not volumize. In other words, your face will not appear puffy.
Is Skinvive really worth it?
Absolutely! If you’re a suitable candidate, if you have fine lines around the lower face from sun damage or aging, it is a great way to replenish the hydration of your skin.
Is skinvive painful?
No, usually your provider will numb the surface of your skin with a topical numbing cream. Using ice or a cold blower called Zimmer can also minimize the discomfort of the extra small needle placed in a very shallow depth of skin to inject the product. Another way to reduce discomfort is by using a cannula which requires only one poke on each cheek. Lastly, there is pre-mixed lidocaine (numbing solution) already in SkinVive that makes the procedure more comfortable.
How many Skinvive treatments do you need?
On average, two syringes once or twice a year is sufficient. But, this is all up to you and your provider As to what type of results you’re looking for and your metabolic speed in breaking it down. Environmental factors can also influence how your skin holds on to Skin Vive and need for reapplication.
