What Does It Mean To Be Truly Beautiful Inside And Out?
True beauty is one of the hardest things to define. Beauty is officially defined as, “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight”. Here at the Cosmetic Injectables Center (CIC), we work toward this definition of beauty daily. We accentuate the face and play with shadows and light to help clients put their best face forward, following standards for beauty that are pretty much scientifically defined in many instances.
However, beauty in the real sense of the word is not that easy to define. The reason beauty is so hard to define is that it is a multifaceted concept. True beauty goes beyond looks. When someone describes another person as beautiful, they aren’t always talking about aesthetics. Because of this, there are different definitions for beauty, and beauty can have different meanings to different people. They do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all! It can be thought of as a combination of qualities, such as confidence, poise, joy, patience, truthfulness, kindness, persistence, and loyalty. That kind of beauty reaches far beyond physical beauty, and makes a person shine from the inside as well as aesthetically.
Growing up, it’s normal to be concerned about our personal appearances and whether or not we are accepted within our social circles. We worry about whether we fit that mold of the so-called “ideal” image set in place by social and popular media as well as our social circles’ definition. But the truth is, we are not always going to be able to look our best every day of the week and be accepted by the “cool kids” at school and elsewhere.
As adults, we can make choices. We can enhance or change our outside and, as stated before, here at CIC we specialize in that. However, even we will say that true beauty doesn’t come from the makeup we put on in the morning or how many procedures we’ve had! True beauty comes from the heart! When we are beautiful on the inside, it can and does reflect on the outside.
So why do we do what we do? Here at CIC, our ultimate objective is to make you feel as beautiful on the outside as you feel on the inside. Sometimes the smallest imperfections can cause issues and cause people’s perceptions about you to change. A common example is frown lines or the “eleven” between the eyebrows. Exaggerated frown lines can make one appear angry or grumpy most of the time, even with an otherwise relaxed face. It’s a fact that people look to the face for clues as to how someone else is feeling. Those who come to us wanting frown lines fixed often cite that others assume they’re unapproachable. When they get fillers or other treatment to help, they report feeling much more like themselves.
It was for this reason, trying to come to a definition of what beauty really is, that we started our podcast, Cosmetic Doc, hosted by the one and only Dr. Sherly Soleiman. In this podcast, we discuss all things beauty and it’s derivatives. We explore what it means to be truly beautiful and how people can work on beautifying themselves beyond aesthetics.
